This 40-second PSA, was created in collaboration with Leith creative agency and the Scottish Government to encourage early cancer detection. We see a series of worrying moments for each of our feathery friends, but thankfully, each takes swift action and ultimately returns to living their lives.
Supported by Studio AKA’s 3D team, Director Kristian Andrews orchestrated some pin-sharp performances inspired by nature Documentaries – to create something that balances a playful approach to character with the serious topic.
“Technically, the job posed fun challenges, not least how to display cancer symptoms charmingly and lightly. We always relish a tight turnaround, and it meant the team exploited clever alternatives to face-rigs for lip sync and displacement maps instead of simulation for plumage. Motivated by this worthy cause, the Studio threw all our creative weight behind this quick turnaround project in the sincere hope that viewers are inspired to get any possible cancer symptoms checked out as early as possible – just like these lovable birds! ” – Kristian Andrews, Director.
