Deep dive into the world of Nod-Krai!

Studio AKA Director Marcus Armitage and our CG team took on an exciting challenge: a fast-paced animated sequence for “Another Prologue,” an official animated short from the world of Genshin Impact, released 17 February 2026.

Genshin Impact is an open-world adventure game proudly presented by HoYoverse. The game is set within the world of Teyvat – where all kinds of elemental powers constantly surge – and where epic adventures await fearless travellers!

For the animated short, the enigmatic synopsis states:  “It is the fate observed by a mere handful, including the one in whose fate lies. If everything were predetermined, perhaps that would bring some relief. Yet, those who dare to tread the diverging paths of destiny are often the ones hailed as “heroes.”

To bring this alternate world to life, Marcus and the team blended hand-painted digital frames with Unreal Engine-powered CG camera moves, achieving a fluid, dynamic sequence that captures the epic scale and rich visual identity of the Genshin Impact universe.

“Another Prologue” follows HoYoverse’s tradition of releasing cinematic animated shorts to introduce major characters, giving players a rich narrative context before a character becomes available to play. We had a blast pulling the shot together – now, play on!
