Animated Inserts & Title Sequence
for Documentary Feature

“No Human is limited”

In the Autumn of 2020, Jake Scott invited StudioAKA to create animated inserts and a title sequence for his documentary ‘Kipchoge. The Last Milestone.’

The film examines the preparation and training behind Eluid Kipchoge’s extraordinary sub two-hour marathon run in Vienna on October 12th 2019, and explores the fascinating and inspiring story of Kipchoge’s success, which captivated people around the globe.

Commissioned by Ridley Scott Creative Group, Amsterdam, AKA Director Steve Small produced a 60-second title sequence as well as four sequences that illustrated the beneficial dynamics of track tilt and the effects of optimised airflow using running formations.

Small says of the project:

“Eluid Kipchoge’s remarkable athletic achievement was the culmination of science and research underpinned by his sheer talent, tenacity and dedication. Jake steered us towards an approach that represented the science whilst emphasising the human endeavour by taking a more artistic approach to the visuals. We explored designs that tried to glimpse these unseen forces at work in a subjective manner - rather like a stylised X-ray - using scanned watercolours, hand-drawn line tests, digital and real brushes in conjunction with live-action, CGI and After Fx for reference. The technique seemed the perfect way to demonstrate the collaboration of technology and human ability.”
